RECOMMENDATION:

Authorize Modification No. 1 to the Westminster College Pass Purchase and Administration Agreement

BACKGROUND:

UTA and Westminster College entered into a one-year Pass Purchase and Administration Agreement (“Agreement”) for the 2020/2021 school year. The term of the current agreement expires July 31, 2021. Westminster pays for each trip taken by authorized users on UTA services, and UTA gives Westminster a 25% discount off the public fare. Authorized users include students, faculty, and staff with an active Westminster College identification card. The Westminster ID card can be used to “tap-on/off” the UTA system and is valid fare on all UTA services except for Paratransit, Park City, and Ski Services.   This Agreement was originally approved under resolution R2018-06-07. On October 21, 2020, the UTA Board of Trustees approved resolution R2020-10-02 Adopting the Fare Rates and Types of Fare Media of the Agency. The Board’s actions to adopt this resolution rescinded the reduced fare agreements adopted in resolution R2018-06-07, including Education Pass Agreements.

DISCUSSION:

As both UTA and Westminster College recover from the Pandemic and in the spirit of partnership, staff recommends that the Westminster Agreement be extended for one additional year. The updated contract term will be August 1, 2021 through July 31, 2022. All other terms of the contract will remain the same.
