R2022-07-01 - Resolution Adopting Revised Ordinances Governing Authority Services and Property
end

AGENDA ITEM TYPE:
Resolution

RECOMMENDATION:
Approve Resolution R2022-07-01 that adopts revised Fare Payment, Criminal, and Trespassing Ordinances.

BACKGROUND:
Pursuant to Utah Code Ann. §§ 17B-1-301 and 17B-2a-808; A board of trustees of a large public transit district may establish ordinances necessary for:
§ (A) the governance and management of the affairs of the district;
§ (B) the execution of district powers; and
§ (C) carrying into effect the provisions of this part;
The UTA Ordinances have been revised and updated. UTA reviewed each ordinance with the Board of Trustees, provided opportunities for the public to provide input on each ordinance update, and consulted with the Local Advisory Council at their June 1, 2022 meeting.
UTA staff will be recommending for approval three separate ordinances to cover the content of the previous ordinance adopted in 2016. The revised proposal includes new Fare Payment, Criminal, and Trespassing Ordinances. Separating and updating the ordinances has been done to provide clarity, consistency, and compliance.

DISCUSSION:
Staff will review the final versions of the Ordinances, including an overview of public feedback received and additional changes made to the Ordinances drafts since last reviewed with the Board of Trustees.

ALTERNATIVES:
Do not adopt, or suggest additional changes.

FISCAL IMPACT:
