UTA Policy - UTA.05.02 Paid Time Off - Administrative Employees
end

AGENDA ITEM TYPE:
UTA Policy

RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt revisions to UTA Policy UTA.05.02 Paid Time Off - Administrative Employees

BACKGROUND:
UTA currently offers nine paid holidays. In 2021, staff researched other holiday policies and found most comparable organizations recognize Martin Luther King (MLK) as a regular paid holiday. UTA has updated this policy to include MLK Day as a holiday for administrative employees.

DISCUSSION:
UTA recognizes the importance of the MLK holiday and wants to begin recognizing this holiday moving forward. Not only does this make good sense from a best practice perspective, the Executive Team recognizes the importance of honoring this holiday within our community and for our employees. The policy update also includes clarification about UTA’s Retiree Medical Program noted in Corporate Policy 6.5.4 Retirement.

ALTERNATIVES:
If UTA Policy UTA.05.02 revisions are not adopted, the current version of UTA.05.02 Paid Time Off - Administrative Employees approved in June 2021 will remain in effect.

FISCAL IMPACT: Increase total administrative staff holidays by one holiday annually. These costs are already budgeted in the salary of administrative employees.
