RECOMMENDATION:
Approve and authorize the Executive Director to execute contract 24-03884 and associated disbursements with Cummins Inc. in the not-to-exceed amount of $5,000,000 for repair or replacement of Cummins bus engines.

BACKGROUND:
Approximately 350 vehicles are within the scope of this contract, of which approximately 155 are scheduled for engine replacements in the next five years. Approximately 165 - 190 engine assemblies and overhaul kits may be purchased on the contract, and 60 - 130 engine replacements or in-frame rebuilds are anticipated to be performed by the contractor over the life of the contract.

DISCUSSION:
UTA Staff is requesting approval of contract 24-03884 in the amount of $5,000,000 to facilitate the replacement of outdated or malfunctioning bus engines with new or remanufactured Cummins engines, engine parts, and/or engine overhaul kits, reducing downtime and disruption to bus services during the replacement process and enhancing the overall performance of the bus fleet. The contract will commence upon approval and will expire five (5) years from the commencement date.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The total 5-year service support is a not-to-exceed amount of $5,000,000. Funds will come from the approved 2025 Capital Budget line item in the Department of Capital Vehicles yearly budget 40-6224.57000.7008 Subledger REV224. Future requests are reflected in the 2026 to 2030 Fleet Sustainability Capital Plan.
