BACKGROUND:
In November 2019, UTA launched its first microtransit pilot in partnership with Via to test and learn how on-demand and microtransit services can better meet community needs where traditional fixed routes services are not as effective. Since the launch in November 2019, UTA has seen high customer adoption rates, made various iterations with the microtransit service, and has permanently deployed the service in Southern Salt Lake County. In Summer 2021 UTA piloted a late-night service, and in December 2021 UTA launched a second pilot in the Salt Lake City westside region in partnership with Salt Lake City as part of the city’s transit master plan. UTA continues to plan for further expansion of microtransit services as part of the agencies Five-Service Plan.

DISCUSSION:
Staff will provide an update to the Board of Trustees for UTA On Demand services which includes the following topics:
• Overview of the Southern Salt Lake County service including service performance, metrics, and costs from the August 2021 change day through March 2022.
• Overview of the Salt Lake City Westside contracted service including service performance, metrics, and costs from the December 2021 launch through March 2022.
• Overview the proposed South Davis County service, planned for August 2022.
• Overview of the proposed Tooele County service and FTA No-Low grant for service electrification, planned for August 2022.
• Questions from the Board of Trustees

FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for all UTA On Demand services are included in the 2022 IMS budget. Salt Lake City Westside Service is funded through a UTA/SLC Partnering Agreement
