RECOMMENDATION:                                                                                                                       

Approve the award and authorize the Executive Director to execute a change order of $264,960 along with associated disbursements to Daktronics for OGX signs.                      

BACKGROUND:                                                                                                                                 

This procurement is being made through Daktronics with an existing contract approved by the Board of Trustees on May 26,2021. Under this contract UTA purchased 23 signs with an option to purchase an additional 300.

Under the existing contract, UTA can purchase additional signs at $10,665 each. UTA also upgraded the standard one-year warranty to a three-year warranty at a cost of $375 per sign. Installation of these signs will fall under the existing contractor agreement for the capital project. Signs will be installed by the contractor.

The previously contracted signs have not been installed, but will be going into 7 intermodal locations throughout the system, Murray Central, West Valley Central, Central Pointe, SL Central, U of U Bus Loop, Farmington Station, Clearfield Station, and Ogden Station.

DISCUSSION:                                                                                                                                      

The purpose of this modification is to amend the contract with Daktronics to include an additional 24 LED signs each with a three-year warranty, all other terms of the existing contract are to remain as is.

UTA is constructing a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Ogden with 22 stations. Each of these stations will contain an LED Sign which will contain bus location information.

ALTERNATIVES:                                                                                                                                    

Contract with another sign provider through RFP. However, in researching different options it was determined that the efficient option is to continue with the existing vendor through this contract modification.

FISCAL IMPACT:                                                                                                                                

The procurement will pay for the acquisition of the hardware and 3 year warranty, and the contractor on the project will provide the installation. All defects for the sign will be covered by a 3 year warranty from Daktronics.

One time cost of 24 signs with 3 year warranty is $264,960.00” to be paid from the 2022 budget year on 20-2121.68912.14055005 on MSP232
