RECOMMENDATION:

Authorize Amendment 2 to the Bus Agreement with Layton City Corporation in the amount of $179,004.

BACKGROUND:

Utah Transit Authority has a longstanding relationship with Layton City. In 2020, Layton City Corporation (“the City”) entered into a Bus Agreement with UTA that included three (3) one-year options to renew the contract. The City chose to renew their agreement with UTA in 2021. This agreement allowed the City to partner with UTA to fund a portion of the operating cost of the service for the “Midtown Trolley” (Route 628). Per the terms of the agreement, the City agrees to pay 25 percent of the operating costs. In 2021, the City paid $162,760.

DISCUSSION:

UTA and the City have agreed to renew the contract terms  for 2022. The City will continue to fund a portion of the operating cost of the trolley service that will connect the Layton and Clearfield FrontRunner Stations. The City has agreed to pay to UTA $179,004 in 2022. Fares will not be collected on the Midtown Trolley (Route 628).
