RECOMMENDATION:
Approve and authorize the Executive Director to enter into a two-year Education Pass Agreement with Salt Lake Community College.
BACKGROUND:
Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) and Utah Transit Authority (UTA) have historically partnered to provide the institution’s authorized users with a UTA transit pass.
In 2023, SLCC and UTA entered a two-year Education Pass Agreement wherein the school provided students, faculty, and staff with a premium transit pass that is valid on all UTA services except for Paratransit and Ski services (23-F0351, approved by the Board of Trustees on July 12, 2023). This contract is set to expire on July 31, 2025.
SLCC has seven campus locations throughout the Salt Lake Valley with the main campus being the Taylorsville Redwood Campus.
DISCUSSION:
In the spirit of partnership, UTA staff recommends the approval of the two-year Education Pass Agreement with SLCC.
The new contract term will be August 1, 2025 through July 31, 2027. This agreement will give all students, faculty, and staff (42,500 authorized users) access to premium transit. The total value of this contract, $746,000, was determined using a standard formula, which considers the number of authorized users, estimated usage, and the types of service expected to be utilized.
