RECOMMENDATION:
Approve and authorize the Executive Director to execute purchase order 17796 with Cache Valley Electric (CVE) Technologies Group, Inc., an authorized fulfillment parter with Cisco Systems, Inc., under State of Utah Contract AR3227 for state of good repair network equipment in the not to exceed amount of $796,506.26.
BACKGROUND:
The devices being replaced as part of this procurement have reached their manufacturer end-of-support and are scheduled for replacement through the State of Good Repair lifecycle program identified in the agency’s 10-Year IT Strategy.
DISCUSSION:
The procurement will replace 117 network devices deployed across multiple UTA facilities. These devices support critical agency connectivity and enable employee access to business applications including JDE, Workday, email, file services, internet access, and facility Wi-Fi.
Replacement ensures continued reliability of network infrastructure, reduces operational risk associated with aging equipment, and maintains security compliance.
Funding for this procurement was approved in the 2026 Capital Budget (ICI179 - Network & Infrastructure Equipment).

ALTERNATIVES
The alternative is to continue operating equipment that has reached the manufacturer’s end-of-support. This increases the risk of service outages, operational disruption, and cybersecurity vulnerabilities and is not recommended.

Funding will come from Capital funding projects from ICI179 - Network & Infrastructure Equipment (40-2179.65000.5008):
