Fare Agreement: Education Pass (Charter School Consortium)

AGENDA ITEM TYPE:
Service or Fare Approval

RECOMMENDATION:
Approve and authorize the Executive Director to enter into an Education Pass Agreement with the Charter School Consortium.

BACKGROUND:
UTA and the Charter School Consortium (“the Consortium”) have partnered together for many years to provide transit passes to students, faculty, and staff who attend or work at various charter schools throughout our service area.
To participate in the program, each school must purchase a transit pass for one hundred (100) percent of the student population. Additionally, each school has the option to purchase a transit pass for one hundred (100) percent of their faculty and staff. The pass is valid on all UTA services except for Paratransit and Ski Services. Ten schools across UTA’s service district currently participate in the Consortium, however, the number of participating schools may vary per school year.
In 2025, UTA and the Consortium entered into a one year agreement that expires on June 30, 2026.

DISCUSSION:
In the spirit of partnership, staff propose that the Consortium and UTA sign a three-year Education pass agreement. The agreement will give all authorized users access to premium transit. The Consortium will pay $91.00 per authorized user. The value of this contract, $294,021, was determined using a standard formula, which considers the number of authorized users, estimated usage, and the type of service expected to be utilized.
