BACKGROUND:
At the end of 2022, UTA adopted its 2022-2030 Strategic Goals and Objectives. The strategic minute provides an update on one of the five UTA strategic initiatives - Quality of Life, Customer Experience, Organizational Excellence, Community Support, and Economic Return.
DISCUSSION:
UTA is an economic engine which positively impacts Utah’s statewide economy, benefitting every Utahn. On July 24, 2024, the International Olympic Committee announced that Salt Lake City will host the 2034 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. The breadth of UTA’s transit system was an important factor in Salt Lake City’s selection.
The discussion will review transit’s relationship to the selection and the Executive Team’s 2024 strategic initiative to establish a preliminary strategic plan for the Olympic Games.
