Donated Vehicle Program
end

AGENDA ITEM TYPE:
Discussion

RECOMMENDATION:
Informational report for discussion.

BACKGROUND:
The Donated Vehicle Program is an excellent resource for non-profit organizations, public safety agencies, and public education institutions to receive surplus vehicles that have reached the end of their service at UTA. This program allows organizations the ability to receive a used surplus vehicle at no cost. Though these vehicles come "as-is", UTA will be ensuring that the vehicles are safe and road worthy.
Previously the administration of this program was through the Chief Financial Officer’s (CFO) office. In 2021 the Coordinated Mobility Department proposed to administer the program and help streamline the process.

DISCUSSION:
The Coordinated Mobility Department, with approval from the CFO’s office, is now responsible for the administration of the Donated Vehicle program. The Coordinated Mobility Department works closely with human service transportation organizations within the UTA service area and is in the unique position to understand their need for vehicles.
The CFO (Bill Greene) will continue to sign all vehicle recipient agreements.
