RECOMMENDATION:

Approve and authorize the Executive Director to execute the Modification No. 1 to the Ensign College Ed Pass Agreement which extends their agreement for 5 months for a value of $31,250.

BACKGROUND:

Ensign College (Ensign) and Utah Transit Authority (UTA) have historically partnered to offer a transit pass benefit to their students, faculty, and staff.  On July 27, 2022, the UTA board approved contract 22-F0294 with the college that provided 3,300 authorized users with an unlimited premium pass, and the value of the contract was $75,000. The current contract is set to expire on July 31, 2023.

At the time of this approval, Ensign was informed that the value of their contract would increase for upcoming school years. Over the past six (6) months, Ensign and the UTA Fares team collaborated to discuss renewal of the institution’s Ed Pass Agreement. Within the discussions, Ensign shared that their fiscal calendar is January - December and requested that their Ed Pass Agreement be adjusted accordingly. In addition, and in the spirit of partnership, Ensign requested and UTA agreed to extend their current contract rate for five (5) more months through December 31, 2023. For calendar year 2024, the school will enter a new agreement with UTA and the Fares team will bring the contract for board approval prior to the new contract’s commencement on January 1, 2024.

The value of the five (5) months extension is $31,250 and is based on Ensign’s 2022-23 contract. This was calculated as follows:
