AGENDA ITEM TYPE:
Procurement Contract/Change Order

RECOMMENDATION:
Approve and authorize the Executive Director to execute Purchase Order 17777 and associated disbursements with Young Automotive Group under State Contract MA3800 to procure 16 new patrol vehicles in the amount of $837,152.

BACKGROUND:
UTA’s Police Department currently has a fleet of 85 vehicles and many of those vehicles are past their useful service life with several vehicles being more than 10-years-old with mileage ranging from 150,000 - 200,000. These new vehicles will replace our older vehicles.

DISCUSSION:
UTA’s police vehicles are an integral part of the safety and security of the UTA system. They provide a mobile working office for police officers in the field and are a critical tool for officers’ response to lifesaving emergencies, criminal activity, accidents and other calls for service.
