RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the Amendment 2 to the Trolley Bus Service Agreement with Ogden City in the amount of $70,213

BACKGROUND:

Utah Transit Authority has a longstanding relationship with Ogden City. In 2020, Ogden City entered into a Bus Agreement with UTA. This agreement allowed the city to partner with UTA to fund a portion of the operating cost of the service for the “Ogden Trolley” (Route 601 Circulator Bus Service). Per the terms of the agreement, Ogden City agrees to pay 25% of the operating costs. For the base contract, Ogden City paid UTA $72,328.  The city chose to renew their agreement with UTA in 2021 through Amendment 1. In 2021, Ogden City paid UTA $72,906

DISCUSSION:

This action will allow UTA to continue to serve the riders of route 601 free of cost and attract new riders. This service is a valuable economic development tool for the City and its local partners.

UTA and Ogden City have agreed to renew the contract terms found in paragraph 1 of the original contract for the year 2022.  This is the second amendment that the city has requested.  Ogden City will continue to fund a portion of the operating cost of the trolley that will connect Downtown Ogden City with the Ogden FrontRunner Station. Ogden City has agreed to pay to UTA $70,213 in 2022. Fares will not be collected on the Ogden Trolley (Route 601 Circulator Bus Service).
