Capital Budget - State of Good Repair (SGR) Program
end

AGENDA ITEM TYPE:
Discussion

RECOMMENDATION:
Informational report for discussion

BACKGROUND:
With the State of Good Repair representing 75% of the Capital Budget over the next five years, we are providing more detailed information for this program.

DISCUSSION:
UTA has a robust State of Good Repair program which keeps vehicles, rails, maintenance facilities, software, and more in good working order. This program is part of our emphasis to “maintain deliberately”.
By proactively planning for upgrades and replacements, we reduce emergency repairs and save money in the long run. Proactively replacing and refurbishing worn out assets allows us to get better contractor pricing, higher reliability and predictability for our customers, better coordination between projects, and more efficient use of staff time compared to emergency repairs.

FISCAL IMPACT:
State of Good Repair and other capital projects are included in the Authority’s annual budget and accounted for in other longer term capital planning.
