BACKGROUND:
Utah’s Public Transit District Act requires all contracts valued at $200,000 or greater be approved by the UTA Board of Trustees. This informational report on upcoming procurements allows Trustees to be informed and provide input on upcoming procurement projects. Following the bid solicitation and contract negotiation process, final contracts for these projects will come before the board for approval.
DISCUSSION:
• CNG Bay Expansion - Design Phase. This is a procurement to contract with an architectural and engineering design services firm to expand the existing fueling building at Depot District. The expansion will consist of an additional bay being added on the east side of the building. The expansion of the compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling is a requirement of the FY 2023 Low or No Emission Grant Program for Buses and Bus Facilities and is necessary in order to fuel the additional 24 CNG buses being procured. UTA funding for this procurement is included in the Capital Budget under code MSP265. The term of this contract will be for 1 year, and this procurement will be conducted as an RFQu, where contract award will be given to the most qualified firm. (Req. 13765, David Osborn).
• Procurement Services. The Supply Chain team is seeking a firm to provide supplemental cradle-to-grave Procurement Services. UTA’s procurement team has recently seen a substantial increase of procurement demand which has resulted in a 6-9 month backlog of procurements and task orders. At current staffing levels this means that a requisition submitted today could take 6-9 months before the procurement team could start the procurement. The selected firm will provide supplemental staff to help UTA’s procurement team catch up on this back-log and ultimately help keep UTA projects on time. The term of this contract will be for 1 year, with two 1-year options for extension. Funding for this contract is included in the Capital Project code MSP256, and this procurement will be conducted as an RFP.
