RECOMMENDATION:

Authorize executive director to enter Service Agreement Amendment 3 (Layton City Corporation)

BACKGROUND:

Utah Transit Authority has a longstanding relationship with Layton City. In 2020, Layton City Corporation (“the City”) entered into an Agreement with UTA that included three (3) one-year options to renew the contract. The original contract was approved by the Board of Trustees on December 4, 2019.  This agreement allowed the City to partner with UTA to fund a portion of the operating cost of the service for the “Midtown Trolley” (Route 628). Per the terms of the agreement, the City agrees to pay 25 percent of the operating costs.

The City chose to renew their agreement with UTA in 2021 and 2022.

DISCUSSION:

UTA and the City have agreed to renew the contract terms for 2023. The City will continue to fund a portion of the operating cost of the trolley service that will connect the Layton and Clearfield FrontRunner Stations. The City has agreed to pay to UTA $184,412 in 2023. Fares will not be collected on the Midtown Trolley (Route 628).
