BACKGROUND:

In line with UTA’s commitment to sustainability and strategic goals, the Sustainability Steering Committee partnered with Jacobs Engineering to perform an in-depth sustainability audit. This comprehensive evaluation has provided critical insights into UTA's environmental impact and will guide the development of its formal sustainability plan

DISCUSSION:

At this meeting the Board will receive an update on UTA’s 2024 sustainability efforts and our goals for 2025.  The audit results have shaped UTA’s 2025 sustainability priorities, including reducing carbon and water footprints, improving waste management systems, and finalizing the agency’s sustainability plan. Key initiatives include energy efficiency upgrades, water conservation efforts through xeriscaping and smart technology, and establishing a cohesive recycling program.

These goals aim to position UTA as a leader in sustainable transit while enhancing operational efficiency and environmental stewardship. The Sustainability Steering Committee seeks the Board’s input on these efforts to ensure alignment with UTA’s long-term sustainability objectives.
