BACKGROUND:
UTA is considering three service-change packages designed to expand connectivity, improve frequency, simplify overlapping routes, and use innovative mobility where fixed-route service is less efficient. The presentation will highlight the 2027 service and mobilization for 2028 service.
DISCUSSION:
UTA’s proposed 2027-2028 service plan intends to improve connectivity, restore suspended service, increase frequency, simplify overlapping routes and use innovative mobility where fixed-route service is less efficient.
The plan extends S-Line Route 720 into the Sugar House business district in 2027. For 2028, it redesigns Ogden service by modifying or replacing several routes and introducing Route 610 and the IMZ-562 flexible service zone. It also replaces Flex F556 with Route 256 along 5600 West.
Implementation requires advanced investment in staffing, vehicles, maintenance capacity, supervisors, and support. The presentation will provide context for the tentative budget discussion, including mobilization costs.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Implementation and mobilization costs will be included in proposed budgets for the affected budget years.
