RECOMMENDATION:
Approve Contract Number 22-03608 and authorize Executive Director to execute contract and associated disbursements with Merchants Building Maintenance to provide janitorial service to all UTA office and maintenance facilities for the amount of $5,532,995.86 (including 2 option years) .

BACKGROUND:
The current Janitorial contract has expired and has been rebid to cover services for three years with an option to continue services for an additional two years.

DISCUSSION:
UTA Staff is requesting approval of Contract Number 22-03608 to award UTAs three-year Janitorial Contract to Merchants Building Maintenance in the amount of $3,242,808. The contract also contains two additional one-year options to be exercised at UTA’s sole discretion in the amounts of $1,128,171.36 and $1,162,016.50 respectively.
Merchants Building Maintenance has been in business since 1961. They have 17 regional offices and are one of the largest providers of janitorial services in the Southwestern United States. They service office buildings, schools, universities, medical buildings, manufacturing facilities, retail buildings and financial institutions. Merchants has held a UTA contract for cleaning a portion of UTA facilities for the last five years and has delivered excellent service at an excellent price. The size of the company, favorable service history and lowest bid of ten contenders demonstrates best value for janitorial services. UTA Staff is confident that Merchants Building Maintenance will continue to provide UTA with the best service at the best price.
This contract has been identified as Contract Number 22-03608 and is funded in the 2022 - 2025 Facilities Operations Budget.
