RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt UTA Policy UTA.01.02 - Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance Policy with minor updates and renumber Corporate Policy 6.1.1 - Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance.
BACKGROUND:
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance Policy exists to ensure UTA programs, services, and facilities are accessible to individuals with disabilities in compliance with all Titles of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. UTA has recently performed a review of our ADA policy and has made a few minor updates to improve readability.
DISCUSSION:
As part of the policy review process, this policy was moved into UTA’s current template. All defined terms were reviewed for clarity and updated. Certain references have received updated terminology, for example, Smartphone is now a Personal Electronic Device so as to be more inclusive.
ALTERNATIVES:
If this policy is not adopted, the current Corporate Policy 6.1.1 - Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance would remain in effect without changes or renumbering.
