RECOMMENDATION:                                                                                                                       

Approve and authorize the Executive Director to execute contract 25-04031 with Big-D Construction to construct a new administration building, bus parking, and bus canopy on the Mt. Ogden UTA campus in the amount of $13,746,913.                     

BACKGROUND:                                                                                                                                 

A study was performed in 2023 to evaluate the needs at the Mt. Ogden site. The study determined that the existing 5,262 square foot building, constructed in 1985, is undersized and outdated for the current administrative needs of the Mt. Ogden campus.

A design team was procured in 2024 and design was completed in 2025 for a new building. The design places the new building in the current bus parking location. Replacement bus parking will be constructed immediately west of the existing bus parking lot. A full and open competition was conducted for construction and Big-D Construction was selected as the best value.

DISCUSSION:                                                                                                                                      

UTA staff are requesting approval of the contract with Big-D Construction to construct the Mt. Ogden building, bus parking, and bus canopy to provide the necessary administration and bus parking space required for operations.
