Contract: Riverside Bus Bay 9 Lift Replacement (Stertil-Koni USA, Inc.)
end

AGENDA ITEM TYPE:
Procurement Contract/Change Order

RECOMMENDATION:
Approve and authorize the Executive Director to execute the purchase order 17120 under Utah State Contract PA4107 and associated disbursements for replacement of Riverside Bay 9 Lift with Stertil-Koni USA, Inc. in the amount of $273,861.77.

BACKGROUND:
The pistons on bus lift in Bay 9 at the Riverside service facility are corroded and beyond economical repair. Replacement is necessary. Stertil-Koni USA, Inc. has identified a suitable replacement.

DISCUSSION:
UTA Staff is requesting approval of purchase order 17120 to replace the bus lift in bay 9 at Riverside with a new unit installed by Stertil-Koni in the amount of $273,861.77. The installation services will be contracted out to Rocky Mountain Lift, but the PO/Contract is required to be issued to Stertil-Koni. The scope of the contract includes removing the existing inground lift and its associated hydraulic lines and replacing it with a new Diamond 64FCR-17, lift with a single fixed post and two movable posts. It will be equipped with a Quick Turn for tandem axles, a wired remote control, and an automatic wheelbase positioning system. The concrete will be cut to remove the old Bay 9 lift. All existing plumbing, trenches, drain, connections, and cleanouts will be preserved. Stertil-Koni will coordinate with UTA on the time frame for demolition and construction and the arrival time of the lift to mitigate the time the bay will be down for construction. UTA shall have a two-year warranty on all work and materials performed and factory warranty on the lift and associated parts.
This lift replacement has been identified as a 2023 SGR project and is funded in the 2023-2027 Capital Plan. This purchase from Stertil-Koni will be made under the State Contract #PA4107 (expires March 31, 2028).

ALTERNATIVES:
There are no viable alternatives. The lift offered by Stertil-Koni is a complete, turn-key system. Systems from other manufacturers would be custom-built using available parts and components. Along with increased lead times, this increases the cost of the project due to engineering, manufacturing, and assembly time.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds for PO 17120 are budgeted into the 2023-2027 Capital Plan.
