RECOMMENDATION:
Approve and authorize Executive Director to execute the purchase order and associated disbursements with Republic Services of Utah in the not-to-exceed amount of $960,000.00 to provide waste management and recycling services for all UTA sites for a five (5) year period.
BACKGROUND:
UTA requires waste management services for seventeen (17) UTA site locations for the pickup and disposal of commercial solid waste and recyclable materials. This is a five-year contract that includes labor, equipment (i.e. bins, container, dumpsters) and transportation, to satisfactorily complete all the requirements as referenced in the solicitation. This contract will commence upon approval and will expire approximately April 24, 2029. The Not-To-Exceed amount is $960,000.00.
DISCUSSION:
In February UTA conducted an Invitation For Bid (IFB) solicitation. Republic Services was the lowest responsive/responsible bid that had the lowest Aggregate (Overall) Price offer. UTA Staff is requesting approval of contract 24-03825BCM with Republic Services for an NTE amount of $960,000.00 over a five (5) year period.

No viable alternatives. UTA must contract for waste management services.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds for 2024 ($124,917.87) are budgeted under the 2024 Facilities Operating Expense Budget. Total contract t cost of $960,000 are included as follows:
2024 Budgeted Total: $124,917.87 (included in the Approved 2024 Operating Budget)
2025 Budget Request: $184,821.66
2026 Budget Request: $189,442.21
2027 Budget Request: $194,178.27
2028 Budget Request: $199,032.72
2029 Budget Request: $62,675.43
Any funds in excess of the NTE amount on the RSS will revert back to available budget once the purchase order is issued.
